ABOUT MAGNOLIAS OF SANTEE

A family-centered approach to
senior care.

Magnolias of Santee is built around a simple belief: older adults deserve compassionate support that preserves their dignity, respects their independence, and helps them continue enjoying a meaningful quality of life.

our story

It began with family.

For the Lockwood family, caring for seniors is more than a profession. It is a responsibility shaped by over four decades of experience supporting older adults and the families who love them.

Throughout those years, one principle has remained constant: some of the most meaningful differences begin with the simplest gestures.

Listening carefully. Remembering how someone likes their coffee. Sitting together on the front porch. Preparing a familiar meal. Offering reassurance during a difficult moment. Taking the time to learn the story behind the person receiving care.

That belief guides Magnolias of Santee today.

Our community provides Assisted Living and Memory Care within a warm Southern environment where personal relationships matter. Instead of asking residents to fit into an impersonal system, we take time to understand their routines, preferences, abilities, and support needs.

The result is care that feels less institutional and more like home.

The Lockwood family’s history in senior care and commitment to making a difference form an important part of the Magnolias story.

Our approach to care

If it’s not good enough for Grandma, it’s not good enough.

Our family-centered approach can be seen throughout everyday life at Magnolias of Santee.

It is reflected in how warmly new residents are welcomed, how team members communicate with families, and how support is personalized around each resident’s plan of care.

It is why we provide assistance with daily needs while continuing to encourage independence and personal choice.

It is why our dining experience centers on familiar Southern cooking and meals that remind residents of the Sunday dinners once prepared by their mothers and grandmothers.

It is why activities are shaped around companionship, enjoyment, and opportunities to remain engaged.

And within Memory Care, it is why routines, activities, safety measures, and surroundings are thoughtfully adapted for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

LIFE AT MAGNOLIAS OF SANTEE

What that means here at Magnolias of Santee.

At Magnolias of Santee, our philosophy is expressed through everyday moments.

It is found in conversations between friends, shared meals around the dining table, time outdoors in the garden, family visits, spiritual gatherings, activities, and familiar routines that bring comfort to the day.

Residents are encouraged to remain involved in their own lives. They can make choices, maintain meaningful relationships, participate at their own comfort level, and receive assistance without losing their sense of identity.

Support is available when it is needed. Independence is encouraged wherever possible. Families remain an important part of the resident’s life and care journey.

Our goal is not simply to provide a safe place to live. It is to create a peaceful, welcoming community where every resident can feel known, respected, and included.

Our philosophy

More than care. A place to belong.

Our mission is to serve seniors in a way that preserves their dignity, promotes their independence, and enhances their quality of life.

That mission shapes how we approach personal care, relationships, dining, activities, safety, and communication with families.

We believe good senior care begins by seeing the whole person—not simply the assistance they require.

Every resident deserves to be spoken to, supported, and cared for with patience and respect. We recognize the life experience, personal values, and individuality each person brings to our community.

Care is guided by each resident’s individual needs, abilities, preferences, and plan of care. Assistance may include medication management, bathing, dressing, meals, housekeeping, laundry, and other activities of daily living.

Friendships, family visits, shared meals, activities, outings, and community events create regular opportunities for residents to connect with others and remain part of a close-knit community.

Emergency call systems, secure entry, medication support, onsite nursing assistance, and additional Memory Care safeguards help residents and families feel more confident about everyday wellbeing.

Receiving assistance should not mean losing control over everyday life. We encourage residents to make choices, participate in familiar routines, and do as much as they comfortably can for themselves.

Moving into senior living can be a significant adjustment. Our team works to provide reassurance, familiarity, meaningful relationships, and a calm environment where residents feel safe and supported.

Residents are encouraged to take part in activities that reflect their interests and abilities. Whether joining a group activity, attending a spiritual service, helping with a familiar task, or enjoying a quiet conversation, meaningful engagement can take many forms.

Our chapel, chaplain relationships, and community partnerships help residents remain connected to their faith, values, and personal sources of comfort.

PERSONALIZED CARE

Thoughtful support that changes with you.

A resident’s needs may evolve over time. Our responsibility is to remain attentive, communicate clearly, and adjust support when appropriate.

Each resident’s care begins with an understanding of their abilities, routines, preferences, and everyday needs. From there, our team provides support according to an individualized plan of care.

We also work alongside families, healthcare providers, home health professionals, hospice teams, social services, chaplains, and other trusted community partners when additional assistance or coordination is appropriate.

How it works

Individual understanding

We begin by learning about the resident—not only their care needs, but also their routines, preferences, interests, personality, and family relationships.

Personalized planning

Support is shaped around the resident’s individual plan of care, including the assistance they need with daily routines, medication, meals, personal care, and engagement.

Ongoing attention

Team members remain attentive to changes in the resident’s comfort, abilities, routines, and wellbeing so that concerns can be communicated and addressed.

Family communication

Families are an important part of the care relationship. Our team and management work to keep them informed and involved when decisions or adjustments are needed.

Why it matters

Consistent, familiar support

Receiving assistance from a team that understands the resident’s needs and preferences can make everyday routines feel more comfortable and reassuring.

Whole-person care

Good support considers physical needs alongside emotional wellbeing, relationships, personal choices, spiritual life, and meaningful engagement.

Continued independence

The right level of assistance can help residents remain involved in everyday life and continue doing what they can safely manage for themselves.

Greater peace of mind

Clear communication and an attentive care team help families feel more confident that their loved one is supported. The client confirms that routines are based on each resident’s plan of care and that needs can be supported on an ongoing basis as they change.
LOOKING AHEAD

A place to feel at home today and supported tomorrow.

Choosing senior living is one of the most personal decisions a family can make. It deserves honesty, patience, and a clear understanding of what the resident needs.

We invite families to visit Magnolias of Santee, meet our team, explore the community, and talk openly about their loved one’s routines, abilities, concerns, and hopes for the future.

There is no substitute for experiencing a community in person.

During your visit, you can see our living spaces, learn more about Assisted Living and Memory Care, ask about current availability, and discuss our straightforward flat-fee approach.

Most importantly, you can begin deciding whether Magnolias feels like the right home for your family.
Because the right senior living community should not feel like a place where someone is giving up their life.

It should feel like a place where they can continue living it—with the right support nearby.

PERSONALIZED CARE

Experience matters. Relationships matter more.

Magnolias of Santee is supported by a team committed to compassionate care, clear communication, and meaningful relationships with residents and families.

Experience and training are important, but what matters most is how those qualities shape everyday life:

A familiar face when reassurance is needed.
A team member who remembers a resident’s preferences.
A thoughtful conversation with a concerned family member.
Patient support that protects dignity and encourages independence.
A culture in which residents are treated with the same compassion we would want for our own mothers and fathers.
